Parts of School Lane and Burnthouse Lane will be closed at times between 18/08 and 22/08 for installation of the 20mph zone. The two roads will not be both closed at the same time and access to properties will be maintained. Hopefully, the junction of Colney Lane and the B1172 will be open by then and that will reduce the traffic trying to come through LM.
We hope that the reduced speed limit will eventually influence Google Maps to stop routing HGVs going to the food park through LM when coming from the east of Thickthorn. The HGV route along the B1172 is a shorter distance but Google Maps must be making unrealistic assumptions about the speed that HGVs are going to achieve through the village. This has been flagged up to Google but no response was received.
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO13166) affecting the C169 School Lane from its junction with U78135 Braymeadow Lane for 1350m westwards (“Road A”) and Mill Road from its junction with Rectory Lane to its junction with Great Melton Road (“Road B”) in the Parish of Little Melton to facilitate resurfacing works, the Roads A–B will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 26th to 29th August 2025
